Game 16: BUF 3-FLA 2, leapfrogs Panthers in standings. Jagr PP assist, now third all-time with 588 pp points.

SUNRISE–Buffalo (8-8-0-16)  held off a late Panthers rally to secure a 3-2 victory and ahead of Florida (6-7-3-15)  in the Atlantic Division. Linus Ullmark stopped 36 of 38 shots, none bigger than one that bounced off his mask during a mad scramble in front of the net in the final half minute. Roberto Luongo stopped 16 of 19 shots in  the loss. Scoring for the Sabres was Brian Gionta, Cody Franson and Sam Reinhart. For the Panthers, Jonathon Huberdeau scored a goal on the powerplay, his first of the season, while Vincent Trocheck caught Panthers leading scorer Jaromir Jagr with his seventh. A couple milestone moments for Jagr in the game. He played in career game 1564, tying Nicklas Lidstrom for 10th all-time. Jagr assisted on  the  Huberdeau goal. It was  Jagr’s 588th career power play point breaking a tie with Teemu Selanne. Next is Lidstrom at 590 (second all-time). It was Jagr’s 1085 career assist and 1815th point. Also of note, during the game Jagr moved to line with Vincent Trocheck and Jussi Jokinen as chemistry with Nick Bjugsted just wasn’t there and hasn’t been for some time. We may see more of the trio until Alexsander Barkov returns to the lineup. (Barkov took shots while skating with team today, three weeks to the day from his injuring his hand against Chicago. No return date has been set).

Since then, they convene at games in Western Canada and make a road trip or two every year, playing street hockey with locals, posing for hundreds of pictures, and having a good time with fans while honoring an all-time NHL legend.
