SUNRISE–A busy Saturday night in the Atlantic Division saw Detroit vault to the top of the group following a win over Nashville and losses by Montreal and Boston. Florida was idle but resumes play against the Columbus Blue Jackets Sunday night at BB&T Center.
Jaromir Jagr leads the Panthers in scoring with 25 points (10 goals-15 assists) and three teammates have more than 20: Jussi Jokinen (7-16-23), Vincent Trocheck (10-11-21) and Jonahton Huberdeau (4-17-21). Huberdeau’s 17 assists lead the team, while Reilly Smith’s 11 goals pace the team.
New teeth: Jagr was sporting new teeth after losing four in Tuesday night’s win with Ottawa. On his facebook page someone included a photo with their comment showing that Jagr has had front tooth damage on at least three other occasions. No photos of the new choppers hit the internet before press time.
The Panthers are playing game three of a six-game homestand. Following today’s game with Columbus, they host the Montreal Canadiens Tuesday, Dec. 29, the New York Rangers Saturday, Jan. 2 and the Minnesota Wild Sunday, Jan 3.
