Panthers visit NY Islanders Monday, play 4 games this week

BROOKLYN–The Florida Panthers make their first trip to the Barclay Center, the new home of the New York Islanders. It’s a critical week for Jaromir Jagr and all the Florida Panthers (38-21-9-85)as they play 4 games in 6 nights and try to claim first place in the Atlantic division. When Jagr takes the ice as expected tonight, it will be his 1616th NHL regular season game, breaking a tie for eighth place with his former Pittsburgh Penguins teammate Larry Murphy.

Florida starts this week’s action one point behind the Boston Bruins (39-23-8-86), who has played two more games than Florida. Tampa Bay (40-24-5-85) has played one more game than the Panthers. In case of a tie at season’s end the team with the most regulation wins claims the higher position. After the Islanders tonight Florida plays Tuesday (at Montreal), Thursday (at Toronto) before returning home Saturday to host Detroit at BB&T Center. Tickets for all Florida Panthers home games can be purchased at panthers.nhl.com.

The Panthers arrived in New York Sunday afternoon and Jagr and a few teammates shared this exchange with a few fans in an impromptu basketball session…
