MONTREAL–Winners of two of three at BB&T Center the Florida Panthers visit Montreal Tuesday night in the first of three games against Canadian-based division rivals. Following tonight’s game the Cats play in Toronto on Thursday and Ottawa Saturday night. The road trip ends In Madison Square Garden Sunday night against the Rangers. The Panthers will be in South Florida for Thanksgiving week hosting the Flyers Nov. 22 and Columbus Nov. 26 at BB&T Center.
Montreal (13-2-1) is the hottest team in hockey with a league-leading 27 points, largely in part to the stellar goaltending of goalie Carey Price, who missed most of last season with injuries.Price is good and these days playing as well as some of the all-time greats. Jagr had this comment which is making the rounds on Twitter.
Jaromir Jagr on what made Hasek intimidating and what makes Price intimidating: “They stop all the f——g pucks,” he said with a laugh.
Jussi Jokinen returned to action Saturday and joined Jaromir Jagr and Aleksander Barkov and his presence sparked the Panthers top two scorers from last season, providing hope they can find their dominant form in the near future. Jagr had four shots and also drew two penalties by the Islanders.
Newcomers have helped the Panthers record a 7-7-1 record for 15 points through 15 games. In the tight Atlantic Division, Montreal is the runaway winner, with Boston (20 points) Ottawa and Tampa Bay (19) and Detroit (17) points pushing the Panthers down to fifth place. Thursday’s oppenent Toronto also has 15 points while Buffalo is one point back at 14 points.
The Jagr-O-Meter shows #68 is only 13 points behind Mark Messier for second on the NHL’s all-time scoring list.
