Game 8: FLA 6–Dallas 2, Jagr goal (6), assist (4). Start homestand Tuesday

DALLAS–After surrendering a goal early for the second straight game the Florida Panthers reeled off five straight goals goals to take control of the game enroute to a 6-2 win over the Stars. Jaromir Jagr scored his 6th goal of the season to start the rally at 11:03 of the first period.

Take a look at Jagr’s 728th career goal here, courtesy of NHL video:

In the second period, Jagr got the second assist on Aaron Ekblad’s first goal of the season. More NHL video:

Nick Bjugsted had a goal and an assist for Florida, whose goal scorers also included Dave Bolland, Reilly Smith and Quinton Howland. Jonathon Huberdeau added two assists and nearly scored a goal or two with solid chances. Al Montoya stopped 33 of 35 shots, yielding two to last year’s scoring champ Jamie Benn of the Stars. Especially encouraging–the Panthers played well despite the absence of Aleksander Barkov, who sustained a wrist injury in Thursday’s game with Chicago and will be re-evalutated Monday.

Florida finished the three-game road trip 1-1-1 and has three home games next week

  • Tuesday, Oct. 27, vs Colorado
  • Friday, Oct. 30 vs. Boston
  • Saturday, Oct 31 vs. Washington
