Panthers head west, Jagr nears test

ANAHEIM–The Panthers have been idle since Saturday’s 2-1 OT loss to Washington at BB&T Center. Jaromir Jagr has been idle since leaving the Carolina game in the first period of the Oct. 27 game with Colorado. Jagr has resumed practice with the team and all concerned hope he’ll be able to play tonight, when the team visits, or Thursday, San Jose or Saturday against vs.  Los Angeles. There are two “ors” in that last sentence, and as the team’s leading scorer, Jagr has been paddling the oars hard for the Panthers this year with six goals and four assists in his nine games played. In competitive games last week without Jagr the young Panthers skated well and with good effort but came up short in games against Boston and the Capitals.

The Panthers start the week in sixth place in the Atlantic Division.

Atlantic Division
Team        GP    W    L    T    OTL
Montreal    14    11    2    1    23
Ottawa      12      6    4    2    14

FLORIDA    11    5    4    2    12
Buffalo        12    5    7    0    10

Over in the metropolitian division the top five teams are separated by five points with the New York Rangers  collecting 18 points, followed by the Islanders 17, Washington’s 16, Pittsburgh’s 14 and the surprising Devils 13.
Remember this week’s games are on the WEST coast with starting times in the East that reflect that geography:  Anahaiem , Wednesday, 10:30; San Jose, Thursday 10:30 pm and the LA Kings, Saturday at a special time of 4 pm Eastern. Set  your sundials!
MULLET UPDATE: A few tweets from the lockerroom showed the progress of Jagr’s hair, a mane source of importance for some people.
The most important thing I see in Monday’s  picture is that Jagr is smiling. He’s all business and if things are not going well, he’s not in the mood for silliness. When he’s feeling good, he’s one of the funniest people in hockey.
No changes, but here we go anyway:

The two best Jagr facebook pages are:  https://www.facebook.com/68Jagr/   This is the page Jagr posts on, if he is going to post at all.

Another good facebook page is one produced by someone in the Czech Republic. It has more than 100,000 likes. This is not the official page, but it is very good.
