ANAHEIM–Playing with a power play and their goalie pulled, Anaheim tied Wednesday night’s game with under six seconds remaining as Corey Heart broke a season long scoring drought. The Ducks collected the victory when Chris Stewart scored in the fourth round of the shootout, as the Panthers (5-4-3) dropped the first game of a three-game road trip. Rocco Grimaldi scored at 5:01 of the second period, only to see Stewart tie the game at 7:51. Erik Gudbransen gave Florida a 2-1 lead at 17:57 with a shot from the rightwing boards. Anaheim outshot Florida 39-25 with Frederik Andersen collecting the win at the expense of Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo.
It was the first game in eight days for Jaromir Jagr, who returned to action after missing games with Boston and Washington. Held pointless , Jagr was +1 and gained form late in the game, playing strong in his final regulation shifts and his lone overtime appearance.
The Panthers visit San Jose Thursday night.
