Last week the Florida Panthers played three games on the West Coast. Only a shootout loss to Anaheim prevented the (0-2-1) trip from being a pointless journey that saw Florida lose games to the Ducks, San Jose and Los Angeles.
Instead of attacking the Panthers have spent a lot of time skating backwards in a defensive posture, rather than mounting any offensive attack, even with a talented top line of Nick Bjugsted, Jonathon Huberdeau and Jaromir Jagr. Huberdeau is still goaless while Jagr has struggled since returning after missing two games due to an upper leg injury. Jagr skated strong in Saturday’s loss with the Kings and perhaps home ice will get him back on the score sheet again. With seven of their next eight games at the BB&T Center and a game in Tampa Bay, the Panthers will spend a lot of time in Florida this month.
This week’s games :
Tuesday 11/10/15: Calgary (5-9-1) at Panthers (5-6-3)
Thursday 11/12/15: Buffalo (6-8-0) at Panthers
Saturday 11/14/15: Panthers at Tampa Bay (7-7-2).
Games this week can make some changes to the Panthers sixth-place standing in the Atlantic Division. Seventh-place Buffalo is closer to FLA than the Panthers are to fifth-place Detroit.
Montreal 13-2-1-27 Canadiens running away with division
Ottawa 7-4-3-17 Senators best of rest so far
Tampa Bay 7-7-2-16 Lightning .500 record good for third place
Boston 7-6-1-15 Bruins scoring second in conference, defense porous
Detroit 7-6-1-15 Panthers skid let Detroit quietly pass them
PANTHERS 5-6-3-13 FLA 0-3-2 since beating Carolina.
Buffalo 6-8-0-1 Rookie Eichel leads Sabres into BB&T Thursday
Toronto 2-8-4-8 Four of 12 losses after 60 minutes.
Anyway, we’ve taken the Jagr-O-Meter to the shop and hope it’s ready to click for tonight’s game.
