WINNIPEG–A month of injuries to key players for the Florida Panthers has allowed the sizzling Tampa Bay Lightning to match their point total of 78. With a game in hand Florida technically holds the top spot but the neighborhood is getting crowded again. Detroit is now third with 75 points and Boston is fourth with 74. It’s a big change from February 3 when after their 50th game the Panthers enjoyed a 7-point cushion against all three teams.
The Panthers hope new NHL players infused into the lineup can reignite the Panthers. Media and bloggers who follow the team speculated during an uneventful trade deadline day as to who would play where. One suggested that recently-acquired Jiri Hudler would join center Aleksander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr on the top line. As of this morning neither general manager Dale Tallon or heac coach consulted JAGRometer.com for an opinion on line combinations so the world will have to see the line combinations after this morning’s game day skate.
Today’s Jagr-O-MeterWe’re going to keep reminding people about Jagr’s stolen assist until the league office addresses the issues, so get used to seeing this graphic…
Jagr himself likely does not care, however, for the sake of historical accuracy the NHL should address this situation. Major league baseball has it’s own army of historians who make corrections to their records decades after the fact. The video evidence exists in the league’s own archives. It shows that Jaromir Jagr assisted on two goals in Florida’s 4-3 loss to Columbus Saturday afternoon at Nationwide Arena.
After tonight’s game the Panthers play at Colorado Thursday and Arizona Saturday before starting a three-game homestand Monday, March 7 with the Boston Bruins. Tickets for that and remaining regular season games at BB&T Center can be secured at panthers.nhl.com.

Since then, they convene at games in Western Canada and make a road trip or two every year, playing street hockey with locals, posing for hundreds of pictures, and having a good time with fans while honoring an all-time NHL legend.
