Before the game Jagr was presented with a plaque made from the stainless steel roof of the Civic Arena, the rink Jagr called home for 11 seasons and where he won two Stanley Cups and five scoring titles.
It was a rare display of class by the Penguins toward Jagr since they lowballed him during contract negotiations to overpay inferior players when he returned from the KHL in 2011. This has started an exodus for the future Hall of Famer that has included stops in Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, New Jersey and now Florida. It’s worked out okay for Jagr whose popularity has soared worldwide since his return from playing three seasons in Russia.
