@FlaPanthers and Montreal play Monday night, roles switched from a year ago; Jagr scores in loss to Boston

SUNRISE–The final week of the difficult 2016-17 for the Florida Panthers hosting the division  leading Montreal Canadiens at the BB&T Center. A year ago it was the Panthers who won the division and team from up North on the outside looking in, but now the roles have been reversed.

Division winning coach Gerald Gallant was axed after a three goals in five minute outburst by the Carolina Hurricanes in November. The graceless termination caught in a classic picture of Gallant waiting for a taxi outside the arena in NOrth Carolina resulted in a season long call by fans for interim coach Tom Rowe to receive an even worse fate after compiling an unimpressive 27-28-4 record since taking over in late November. (Gallant’s Cats were 11-10-1 when he was let go).

So some fresh faces have been called up from Springfield, and maybe they’ll get to play, but maybe not, as getting called up has not guaranteed participation.

Jaromir Jagr scored a goal that tied the game but the Florida Panthers would go on to lose Saturday in Boston as they lost all four games of their Atlantic Division road trip. The Panthers host Montreal Monday night at BB&T Center.

The final score was 5-2 but the Cats were pushing for an equalizer until a late power play goal by Boston and an empty net goal gave the Bruins a harder fought win than the scoreboard would suggest.

Jaromir Jagr scored his 16th goal of the season and second in three games. It was his 765  career goal and his 217th ppg puts him in 10th place all time with Mike Gartner.  Not to mention his 43rd point of the season and his 1911th career point.

Jagr hopes to play tonight as he goes for his second full 82 game slate in his last four seasons. Hundreds will be wearing their Czech national jerseys to see their national hero play as…THE LEGEND CONTINUES!
