CALGARY–Media reports from Canada suggest Jaromir Jagr’s tenure with the Calgary Flames is expiring much sooner than the end of the season. Elliot Freeman says Jagr’s agent is trying to find a trading partner for the Flames that would keep #68 in the NHL. If unsuccessful, a league in Europe other than the KHL would become an option, as another report dismissed the idea of the Russian-based league since their transfer deadline has passed. As far as next month’s Olympics, Jagr announced his retirement from international play after the 2115 IIHF championships in the Czech Republic, though the thought of him suiting up for the national team was kicked around last summer before he signed with Calgary.
As noted in an article from the Czech Repubic linked below, this seems a little contradictory to the team announcement Friday that his status was day-to-day due to injury.

Flames reach halfway point riding three game win streak
On the ice the Flames reached the halfway point of the season with a 21-16-4 record for 46 points. The usual cutoff for the playoffs is 95 points by season’s end. Victories over Chicago, Los Angeles and Anaheim have the team within two points of third-place San Jose in the Pacific Division. The second wild card slot is within grasp as that spot is held by Colorado with 47 points. Minnesota and Anaheim also have 47 points.
