Panthers try to rekindle winning against Calgary Flames

CALGARY–The Florida Panthers (23-12-5-57) finish a swing through Western Canada with tonight’s game in Calgary (19-20-2-40), the fourth straight game they’ve played above the US-Canada border. Before heading West Florida beat Ottawa, defeated Edmonton and  lost in overtime to Vancouver to gain 5 of 6 possible standings points.

Coach Gerard Gallant is away from the team to attend the funeral of his mother. Assistant coach Mike Kelly will handle the reins in his absence.

One of the better tests for the Panthers defensive capabilities will come in the form of Johnny Gaudreau, aka Johnny Hockey, who leads the flames with 18 goals-24 assists for 42 points including three in overtime. Gaudreau is tied for sixth in scoring.

Jaromir Jagr leads the Panthers in scoring with 15 goals-17 assists for 32 points and his production has been helped with the great work of linemates Jonathon Huberdeau (7-24-31) and Alexsander Barkov (12-16-28), the latter playing in only 33 of the Panthers 43 games.

The teamwork continues to allow the trio to thrive. Among all skaters, Jagr’s 32 points rank him tied for 32nd, while his 15 goals rank him tied for 28th. Narrow that down to right wing and  Jagr’s point total is eighth best and his goal total is seventh best.
