(Editor’s Note: It’s been an exciting week of Jaromir Jagr news as he has caught Gordie Howe for third-all time. Learn about Gordie Howe in our March 3 edition. Read about Jagr recording his 1850th NHL point in the March 4 edition. Tonight Jagr tries to break the tie and record point 1851, which would leave him 36 behind Mark Messier, his next target at #2 among NHL career scorers. Tonight’s game is at 9 pm Eastern–due to Arizona’s location in the Mountain Time Zone).
GLENDALE–When Jaromir Jagr arrived in Florida to try and push the Florida Panthers during the 2014-15 season, he responded with 18 points in 20 games. This year, Jagr and the Panthers will try to regain top position and the Panthers leading scorer is doing his part by recording 11 points over 11 games.
Over that stretch Jagr has passed Brett Hull to become the third all-time leading goal scorer in NHL history. Thursday during the loss to Colorado, Jagr tied Gordie Howe as the third all-time leading scorer. The Panthers are 1-2-1 on their five-game road trip which ends Saturday night when the Panthers visit the Arizona Coyotes.
After a night off for the entire Atlantic Division, the Panthers will be one of seven Atlantic teams playing tonight including.
Jagr downplays catching Howe and some of the other milestones he’s achieved this year. Link from NHL.com includes video of Eric Gudbranson goal that was the finish to a play Jagr started with a pass to Aleksander Barkov.

People try to compare the performance of players across different eras. At Jagrometer.com we prefer to let the accomplishments of the players speak for themselves without footnotes. That said, NHL.com shared an article trying to compare the two hockey legends.

The other day an article in the Wall Street Journal revealed he was giving up coffee for Lent. A lot of people give up coffee, but most aren’t giving up 10 cups a day. Deadspin.com talked about it. Once adjusting, Jagr has performed as dominantly as he as in any time in the last 10 years, in our estimation.

Hoping for Point 1851 for Jagr and a Florida Panthers win. Even though Jagr reached 1850 in few games than Gordie Howe, we’re listing Mr. Hockey first on the Jagr-O-Meter, out of respect.
The Panthers return home for a three-game homestand starting with Boston Monday night at BB&T center. Later the week Florida hosts Ottawa Thursday and Philadelphia Saturday. Tickets for these and all Panthers home games can be secured at panthers.nhl.com.

Clad in different Jagr jerseys and hair styles from 68’s career, they gained league-wide recognition when they caught Jagr’s attention during a pre-game skate of a Dallas Stars game in Canada during the 2012-2013 season. Since then, they convene at games in Western Canada and make a road trip or two every year, playing street hockey with locals, posing for hundreds of pictures, and having a good time with fans while honoring an all-time NHL legend.
