MONTREAL–The Florida Panthers clinched home ice for two rounds of the playoffs with a 4-1 win over Montreal as Tampa Bay dropped a 3-2 decision to the New York Rangers.
The Panthers (46-25-9-101) extended their lead over the Lightning to six points in their team record setting campaign which puts them over the 100-point mark for the first time ever.
Aleksander Barkov scored his team-leading 28th goal of the season, while Nick Bjugstad scored the eventual game winner. Both of those goals were assisted by Jaromir Jagr who has 64 points on the season and has a six-point lead over Jussi Jokinen for the team lead. The assists give Jagr 1866 career points.
Gregg McKegg and Jiri Hudler also scored for the Panthers, who were outshot by the Canadiens. Roberto Luongo played a strong game in goal stopping 32 shots while only allowing a score by Montreal’s Alex Galchenyuk .

Before the game Jagr made a cameo during a Jonathon Huberdeau interview.
Huberdeau did pass Jagr the puck and he forwarded to Barkov, who scored 10 seconds into the game for the quickest goal celebration in team history.
