SUNRISE, FL–Jonathon Marchessault collected a goal and two assists as the Florida Panthers beat Detroit 4-1 to start the season 2-0-0. Alexander Barkov had a goal and Jaromir Jagr collected an assist in the win.
It was Jagr’s 100th game with the Panthers and he’s scored 85 points (33 goals and 52 assists) since joining Florida at the trade deadline during the 2014-15 season. The assist was Jagr’s 1120th of his career. He now has 1869 career points and was recorded on a night when Florida honored him and treated fans to a Jagr bobblehead highlighting his career milestones. Jagr now trails NHL second all-time point leader Mark Messier by 18 points.The Panthers next game is Tuesday at Tampa Bay.
