VANCOUVER–The Florida Panthers (20-19-9) dropped a 2-1 decision to Vanouver Friday night, their second regulation loss sandwiched around an overtime loss on their road trip to Western Canada.
Jaromir Jagr scored his 214th career power play goal to give the Panthers a short-lived 1-0 lead. Henrik Sedin of Vancouver scored a goal for his 1000th career NHL point a few minutes later to to tie the game.

The standings look deceptively hopeful. The Panthers are only one point behind Toronto for the final wild card spot, while the third place Boston Bruins are only three points away with 52 points in the NHL’s island of misfit toys, the Atlantic Division. Ottawa also has 52 points and holds the second place position by virtue of more regulation wins than Boston. Toronto has five games in hand on Florida. If Florida comes to life, it will be within their division.
