Jaromir Jagr may start season at home. It was a slow week for Jagr contract news until he told nhl.com he may start the season for Kladno, the team he owns in the second-tier of the Czech league. Playing in his country’s top league or the KHL would preclude Jagr from playing in the NHL this season.

Earlier in the summer Jagr’s former teammate Nick Bjugstad endorsed the idea of Jagr playing in the NHL. This week Aleksander Barkov, Jagr’s center during his tenure in Florida, told NHL.com hewill miss Jagr and hopes he finds a new deal.

It all comes down to money and role. Jagr produces at a top 6 forward rate and shouldn’t settle for a paltry contract.
