(CALGARY, Alberta, Canada)–Jaromir Jagr arrived in Canada Wednesday and was introduced to the media after signing his one-year deal with the team. Noting the current crop of GMs preference for speed and youth (and we say over intelligence and skill) he expressed gratitude to the Flames for the opporutnity in what in some moments sounds like could be his last NHL season.
Here’s a short NHL.com video from the Flames website starting from his airport arrival to his introduction to the media at the Saddledome.
The press conference had a combination of serious and light-hearted moments.

Jagr did not arrive in time for the Flames game at Edomonton, which saw the Oilers best their long time rivals 3-0 behind a Connor McDavid hat trick. He sasid his preparation was different this summer because he did his workouts but hasn’t participated in a game in five months and will take as much time as necessary to make his debut. After the opening night shutout most of Calgary hopes he absorbs into his new team well and plays in Saturday’s home opener against the Winnipeg Jets.
